GTL??!?!!!???
There are many, many reality TV shows for us to watch. The Real World on MTV was one of the first, and highlighted the lives of strangers living together in a house and the relationships (or lack there of) and the challenges that go along with living with different personalities. Since the Real World, different types of shows have sprung up, such as the Survivor, or Big Brother, and some new shows of the same style have also sprung up...your one and only JERSEY SHORE!!! We know all about living with people and the drama that can go along with it...so why is the Jersey Shore, and shows like it (Skins, etc.) so popular? What makes viewers keep coming back for more? And really...what makes us embrace slogans like GTL?
I honestly don't watch those shows or know much about them, so it is a bit difficult to create an opinion on why I think other people do like them. Perhaps people view the shows as "real": the people in the cast know each other, some of the footage is true to reality, and the people on the show are of a certain age that others feel they can relate to.
ReplyDeletejersey show is a show everyone likes including myself. we get to know these people and want to continue to see what's going on in their lives. they are a group of good looking people which helps also. GTL is a big thing because people think they're cool and want to be like them. the combination of them all together is funny and makes you want to watch more every week.
ReplyDeletewell, i guess people like reality tv because it is in someways reality. theres a certain realness to these type of shows that people like to watch. in regular tv shows its actors with scrip’s. in reality tv shows (even though they are scripted) to others reality tv is perceived as real people in real situations. people also like the fact that there is always drama and is fun to watch. Reality tv is fun and new and thats why people love it.
ReplyDeleteJersey Shore is popular because it's a show that depicts "guidos" all living together and their crazy lives of drinking, fighting, and having sex. honestly, i watch Jersey Shore to laugh because i look at it and see how dumb they all are and it just gives me something to entertain my thursday night with from 10-11. shows like Jersey Shore and skins are made to attract teenagers and that's exactly what they do.
ReplyDeleteSome people can relate to the lives of some of the cast members on Jersey Shore. I like the show because its fun to watch. I believe many young adults watching Jersey Shore look up to that show and bring that lifestyle into their own lives. i.e I have witnesses with my own eyes seeing guys with the Blow Out hair style like Pauly D ! HAHA

Jersey shot is an easy show to get addicted to because there is a lot of drama in it. People like to watch that show because there is something about drama that attracts people attention.
ReplyDeleteI've only watched Jersey Shore a few times since it started and I don't watch any other reality shows, so I'm not really sure how to write on this. However, I do know that reality shows are obviously supposed to seem realistic to the audience and make them feel like the situations those people are put in, are more intense than they would be on just a regular tv show or movie with actors. Drama attracts many people for some reason, and I guess that's why they watch shows like these. Therefore, the next day after watching a new episode of Jersey Shore, they can go into school the next day and spread all of their knowledge of what they saw on that episode and make it the hot topic of the day. I think it also gives people a sense of relief in a way because they know that they don't have to go through what the actors are going through. However, at the same time, there are people that can relate to what the actors are going through, so it draws their attention to it just because of that fact.
ReplyDeletePersonally I could care less about any shows like Jersey Shore. The only reason people watch them is because it is so bad and people naturally like to see others in drama and have problems. It makes them feel better about themselves. Another reason people watch shows like this is because it is like a car crash you can't look away.
ReplyDeleteI personally love the show jersey shore. I watch it every Thursday and so does the rest of the world. I guess we see it has a way to get to know some of the people even if some of it isn't 100% real but that's what keeps us entertained.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely the drama and extreme behavior on these shows that keeps the audience coming back. Each house member's unique personality adds to the interactions between them and i guess it's fun to watch things like a relationship fail and a bar fight, all within the span of an hour.
ReplyDeleteJersey Shore is one of the most entertaining reality t.v. shows! The reason why it is so popular is because the viewers see the personal lives of these people and they watch every week to see what crazy thing they will do next. The events that occur in this show are far from reality but it is funny and entertaining. The reason why so many people have embraced GTL is because they want to be like the star's that they see on t.v.
ReplyDeleteI think Jersey Shore is a waste of time. Really, getting drunk every night and starting fights for no reason with everyone.. So entertaining, alright I guess its fun to laugh at how these people act sometimes. But I'd rather not watch the show. Some people are so easily influenced by shows like this that they start to act like the cast. They think its totally acceptable to treat girls like they're worthless. The girls who aren't living in the house are only invited over because the guys just want to "smash" them. See now guys our age at schools and in real life who think they have game think they can act this way, which they can't. I think people just need to learn how to act and respect everyone. Now I'm not just attacking the men of Jersey Shore, the girls on the show are just as unintelligent. If the guy you like is talking to another girl, do not start drama just go up to him and talk about it later. Another thing, if you see him talking to that girl, do not go and talk to some other guy to make him jealous, thats dumb and immature.
ReplyDeleteI think Jersey Shore and other reality tv shows are so popular because some people I suppose could relate to some aspects of it. On the otherhand, I guess it has to do with the drama that occurs that makes people always want to go back and keep watching the new episodes that come out. People believe the slogans such as "GTL" because they want to be like them even though that is not necessarily a good thing since they don't have anything going for them. They're getting drunk every night and having sex with the first living thing they see. oh cool, they're getting diseased if they weren't already to begin with. WICKED COOL ROLE MODELS.
ReplyDeleteSome reality television shows are actually good shows. The Jersey Shore on the other hand is rediculous. The show itself has become a success and I'm not quite sure why. My personal opinion is that it is one of the dumbest shows on TV and I choose not to watch it. I don't actually know what GTL stands for, but I think that slogans like these are a fans way of expressing a liking for that show.
ReplyDeleteI've never watched an episode of Jersey Shore or any of those reality shows simply because its not reality. I'd rather read a book or do someting productive than waste my time watching one of those shows. The people aren't even close to acting the same way they act on camera, off of the camera. It's soooo repetitve and predictable it's annoying. Nobody on Earth has that much drama over and over again so its not really entertaining its like wrestling, it's okay until you realize it's all staged

i think that people watch shows like jersey shore because they are entertaining. i know thats why i watch it, its a good show to just laugh at the entire thing. the show does not depict reality at all but its still fun to watch the lives of these people and see them make fools of themselves. i think it also helps that one of them is from ri, so that is another thing that draws people it. they are just shows that are entertaining, but really have little value
